Serving from the Appalachias to Africa
We are grateful to partner with “The Lords Child,” that serves families throughout our East Tennessee community through providing meals to families every week. Their facility is bursting at the seams, and to reach even more people, we are excited to help support the building of the first Lord’s Child Center—a new space designed to expand our support for the community. At the same time, our partner ministry in Uganda continues to grow. The Wells of Joy school and orphanage is now home to more students and residents than ever before—filled with bright young faces eager to learn, thrive, and grow. Meet the Founders
Gene and Karen Wolfenbarger have shared a life of purpose-driven work and service. Together, they built Smoky Mountain Labradors from the ground up into a thriving Labrador breeding program rooted in integrity and care. Beyond their business, they founded The Lord’s Child food pantry and established a meaningful partnership with Wells of Joy School and Orphanage in Uganda.
Through these efforts, they proudly serve Labrador families across the United States, support neighbors in need within their local community, and extend compassion to vulnerable populations around the world. Helping the Less Fortunate
13 years ago we met one of the most influential men in Uganda named Makumbi Johnson. Little did we know the lifelong partnership that was about to form. For the past 13 years our family and Makumbi have established a full time school and orphanage in the most rural area of Uganda where they house, feed, and educate nearly 400 children every day. We want you to understand that when you buy a beautiful, full-bred English Lab puppy from us, your money is going to more than just the cost of breeding, caring for and training these amazing dogs. You are also contributing to helping people who are less fortunate than we are in rural Appalachia and Africa. Wells of Joy School & Orphanage
Our partners in rural Uganda are making a massive impact on the lives of hundreds of children each day. Wells of Joy School & Orphanage is committed to providing an excellent education that has the power to completely change the course of a kid’s life. They can then use their education to pour back into their community and continue to make an impact for many years to come.

Among the most important needs at Wells of Joy School & Orphanage is appropriate housing for the students that live on the campus; specifically an area they can keep children that get sick. It is nearly impossible to isolate diseases so they don’t spread to other children and a separate living space would help with that tremendously. With your help we can provide a safe, healthy, and enjoyable living space for these students.
Each year our family commits to sending tens of thousands of dollars to not only educate and house children, but feed them 3 meals a day. This is all possible in large part to the success of our kennels, and we are so grateful to each client who allows us to make this possible. Your gift will have a massive impact as it will ensure kids have quality food that will strengthen them as they finish out the school year.
