Labrador Retriever Stud Service

Option One

Upfront Stud Fee

The Stud Fee for Santy Smoky MTN Moose is $2500.00. This fee does include collection kits. We use the very best in collection kits. Each kit costs an additional $50.00 per shipment. Moose's Stud fee comes with the guarantee of two live puppies. If you have no puppies as a result of the initial breeding (this only applies to Stud Fees paid in advance), then we offer a repeat breeding to any stud dog owned by Smoky Mtn Labradors — you will have three years to use that repeat.

Note: Repeat Breedings CANNOT be sold to other breeders. If the Female does not take you are welcome again for a REPEAT BREEDING, there will be a $500.00 service fee and veterinarian collection fees.

Option Two

Service Fee

We do offer a Service Fee. The Service Fee is $1000.00 and does not include the Collection Kits. The Service Fee is only considered as a deposit towards the stud fee and is a non-refundable fee. The remaining balance of $1500.00 ($500.00 Minus the Stud Fee of $2000.00 = $1500.00 DUE) is due within three days upon the birth of 2 or more live puppies. There are veterinarian collection fees at our local vet to assure quality before shipping.

NOTE: If you have no puppies as a result of the service breeding option, a repeat is not offered, and the service fee is non-refundable.

BISS AKC GCH

Santy Smoky Mtn Moose

If you are interested in breeding your female specifically to Moose, please call us at (865) 440-1100.

First Time Breeders

If your female has never been bred, we highly recommend progesterone testing. Today, we have state-of-the-art progesterone testing available to us to target and ensure peak fertility in the female that you want to breed. Many people fail to realize that you cannot rely on breeding on the traditional day 10-14 of your female (heat) cycle and expect to get a litter of puppies!

Through extensive research in recent years and the ability to do progesterone testing to target ovulation, we have found some dogs ovulate as early as day 8, and others ovulate as late as day 29! If you choose not to do the proper testing, we have seen almost half of the breedings fail to produce a litter. Progesterone testing will also ensure you also get large litters.

AKC-Certified Pedigree Labrador Stud Service

The American Kennel Club (AKC) is a household name in the dog world — but what does AKC certification really mean for your Labrador Retriever? It implies the pedigree of your Labrador is recognized and valued. With AKC registration, breeders and owners alike can trace the lineage of their dogs, ensuring they're of the highest quality.

A pedigree Labrador is not just about lineage, but it's also about ensuring that the breeding standards set by the AKC are upheld. At Smoky Mountain Labradors, we pride ourselves in our AKC-certified pedigree labs and ensure that every breeding adheres to the gold standards set by the AKC.

What Stud Dog Qualities Does Your Labrador Have?

When considering a Labrador for stud services, there are essential qualities you'll want to be on the lookout for — among these traits are health and temperament. The Labradors at Smoky Mountain Labradors display an excellent temperament and are perfect for families and other dogs. They are smart, trainable, and possess the playful charm that Labradors are loved for.

Additionally, it's not just about the playful nature or the intelligent eyes. We also pride ourselves on the achievements of our Labradors in the show ring and hunt tests. These accolades are evidence of a well-bred, well-trained, and excellently managed Labrador.

How Do People Choose A Stud Dog?

Choosing the right stud dog goes beyond looks. A reputable breeder will consider the reputation and bloodline of the stud. For example, is he AKC-registered? Does he come from a lineage of grand champions? Stud dogs from recognized and respected pedigrees, like those at Smoky Mountain Labradors, offer an assurance of quality and breed standards.

Another important factor is health clearances — this is to ensure that both the stud and the female Labrador retriever are free from common genetic conditions like skeletal dysplasia, ensuring that their puppies will be healthy. Smoky Mountain Labradors guarantees health clearances for all its dogs, ensuring a successful breeding program.

Choosing the Perfect Stud for Breeding

Finding the right match is essential when it's time to breed your female Labrador. It's not just about finding any stud but about ensuring compatibility. This guarantees that the resulting litter will be of the highest quality and embody the best traits of both parents.

Breeding Is a Serious Business

Ensuring the genetic health of the Labradors is essential for preparing a successful mating. At Smoky Mountain Labradors, every step is taken to ensure that the breeding process is meticulously managed — from selecting the stud and dam to ensuring they are in good health for the process.

Ensuring Genetic Health

Breeding is not just about the present but also the future — ensuring genetic health guarantees that future generations of Labradors will be free from preventable conditions. This is why Smoky Mountain Labradors invests in health tests, certifications and only breeds dogs with clear health histories. Breeding requires preparation.

Both the stud and the female Labrador retriever must be in their best health. Furthermore, understanding the breeding cycle's intricacies, optimal mating times, and post-mating care is essential.
